Arriving in a new country for a semester abroad is exciting — and sometimes overwhelming. If your Spanish is limited or non-existent, the first weeks can be isolating: you struggle to follow lectures, navigate daily life or connect with local students.

Our Spanish for Exchange Students programme is designed to change that. Whether you are preparing before you leave home or have already arrived in Santiago, we give you the language tools to make the most of your time in Chile — academically, socially and personally.

All classes are private — one teacher, one student — so you progress at your own pace, from day one.

Pairs welcome — two students at the same level and with similar interests can take classes together

Format 1 — Online

before or during your exchange

Many students begin their classes online before leaving their home country. This gives you a head start so that when you land in Santiago, you can already communicate in basic situations, understand directions and feel less lost from day one.

Online classes continue to be available once you are in Chile if your schedule makes it easier than coming in person.

Format 2 — In person

Santiago

Rate p/p $20.000 (€18, £16, US$21, ? ) hourly

If you are already in Santiago, face-to-face classes at our school in Providencia are a great option. It is easy to reach from most universities and from the city centre.

A programme built around your needs

Every exchange student arrives with different goals, a different level and a different reason for being in Chile. That is why there is no fixed curriculum for this programme — your teacher builds it around you.

1. Option 1: General Spanish — from zero

   If you are a complete beginner, we start from scratch with a clear, structured approach based on Natalislang's own materials developed over 39 years. You build grammar, vocabulary and confidence progressively, at a pace that suits your schedule.

2. Option 2: Academic and university Spanish

   If you need to follow lectures, write assignments or participate in seminars in Spanish, we focus on the language of academic life — presentations, written work, discussion, formal register. This is combined with general Spanish so you can also function outside the classroom.

3. Option 3: Learn Spanish Through What You Love

   Just like our main private programme, exchange students can also choose their own topics — Chilean history, Latin American politics, literature, science, culture — and learn Spanish through those subjects. This is particularly effective for students whose university subjects overlap with their language learning.

   You choose 5 to 10 topics that interest you, and your teacher builds each lesson around them — grammar, vocabulary and conversation all connected to content that matters to you.
