La Sebastiana was opened by Pablo Neruda in 1961 and that day he invited his friends to celebrate. He wrote his best works which took him to a world-class level there and he was awarded the Nobel Prize of Literature in 1971. It was abandoned for a long time but the Spanish company Telefónica and Fundación Pablo Neruda (Pablo Neruda Foundation) restored the house. The first funicular was built in Concepción Hill in 1883 and it was steam-operated. In 1887, another funicular was built in Cordillera Hill. Currently, there are 15 funiculars and all of them were declared Historical Monuments by the National Monuments Council. Get on the Valparaíso funiculars and enjoy the experience. |

La Campana National Park was founded on Octoer, 17th, 1967 and it’s surface has 8,000 hectares. It was declared a Biosphere Reserve in 1985. Enjoy the view of the Park, taking a walk through its beautiful environment surrounded by nature. |

| Jardín Botánico |
Mr. Pascual Barburizza, a Yugoslavian philantropist, donated his “El Olivar” estate to the Chilean Salpeter Company and then it was transfered to the Salpeter and Iodine Sales Corporation which kept it open for a couple of decades. This Corporation was unable to comply with Barburizza’s last will which was to use this land for agriculture, so they decided to transfer it to the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture. The latter declared this place Experimentation Centre and National Botanic Garden, so it became the Jardín Botánico. |
